January:  It’s just the month to visit Selby Abbey, an iconic abbey dating back to 1069. You’ll be surprised by it’s size and in awe of the beauty that makes this building so unique, whilst there pop into it’s café for a lovely coffee.

February:  Jorvik Viking Festival, York’s world famous museum holds its annual festival.

March:  Festival of Spring Bulbs at Sledmere House in their expansive gardens and grounds.

April:  Visit Bempton Cliffs managed by the RSPB, where 250,000 birds flock each year, with young chicks taking their first steps between mid-April and July.

May:  Yorkshire is famed for it’s cycling, don’t miss out on seeing the annual Tour De Yorkshire over the first May bank holiday. Then at the end of the month the Malton Food Lovers Festival takes place; this market town is fast becoming the food capital of Yorkshire!

June:  With Lindy Hop, vintage stalls, memorabilia, military vehicles and a NAAFI cafe,  Bridlington Old Town 1940’s Summer Festival is the place to go.  This was also the location used by Universal Pictures for the filming of ‘Dads Army’.

July:  Our favourites are Burton Agnes Jazz and Blues Festival.  The local Howden Agricultural Show and The Great Yorkshire Show; the later is considered the jewel in Yorkshire’s events crown

August:  The month of grand horse racing events across North and East Yorkshire, with both York and Beverly racecourses hosting some of the best social events of the season.

September: Yorkshire’s Walking and Outdoor Festival in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds offers superb activities that will appeal to families, casual walkers and enthusiasts alike.

October:  Combine the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway with Pickering’s Wartime Weekend.

November:  St Nicholas Fair, York is home to one of the UK’s biggest Christmas Markets.
